Cryptocurrency is a valuable asset for any investor to own, acting as an avenue to grow your wealth completely separate from banks through peer-to-peer transactions; this makes it a decentralized currency. There is no physical location you can go to to get your cryptocurrency, and there’s no organization that delegates it. The cryptocurrency world can seem a bit overwhelming at first glance with its many, many different variations and types of coins. You’ve likely heard of Bitcoin and Ethereum already, the two most prominent players in the crypto-sphere. These two coins’ popularity can be attributed to their already developed and advanced blockchain systems, with many smaller coins piggybacking off the existing technology to quickly and efficiently create coins and track transactions. This means that the vast majority of coins use Bitcoin or Ethereum as a base, meaning they can (and in some cases, must) be purchased with one of these two main coins. Cryptocurrency is much like the stock market because its price rises and falls with its demand, making it a straightforward base concept for investors to pick up. Any investor looking to get into crypto can create an account on Coinbase and purchase a portion of Bitcoin or Ethereum, though you don’t need much to start.
Coinbase is a highly beginner-friendly exchange. It can be accessed through a web browser or a mobile app, and its user interface is straightforward to use. The company also offers a wallet, another valuable tool for beginner crypto investors as it helps ease you into using other wallets further down the road if you so choose. Someone might decide to make accounts across multiple exchanges (Binance, Kucoin, etc.) because each exchange only has access to so many coins. You’ll find coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Luna on Coinbase, but other more obscure coins will have to be accessed through different exchanges or swapped through swapping sites (uniswap, pancakeswap, etc.). To start, Coinbase should be enough all around, allowing most investors to buy what they’re searching for at any time.
For now, we’ll leave you with this, but expect more detailed guides and explanations as we roll out some of our favorite crypto purchases. We personally own a large assortment of cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin being our single largest investment. We hope to see you soon—happy investing.
